I shoot film. Why? Oh, so many reasons. I could talk for days about how beautiful film is, how much I love the grain, the colors, how it makes me connect with my clients because I have to slow down and think about what I’m doing…. all of those things. There’s also a certain nostalgia about it. All the photos of me from my childhood were on film, and guess what? My parents still have those negatives. Negatives that I can take to a lab, have printed, and hang on my wall. Film negatives don’t crash. They don’t disappear into an icloud abyss, they don’t get lost somewhere on a hard drive never to surface again. Among the many many reasons I shoot film, that is the biggest one. The images I create for you and your family are images that can stick around for a long long time. Your grandkids might find these negatives one day, when things like the icloud sound archaic, and they’ll be able to look at them, print them, and reminisce over them as though the session was yesterday. Who wouldn’t want that?
